Q: WHO IS LIYANA IN HER OWN WORDS? A: I was born in Penang, Malaysia, with a Javanese background heritage. My educational journey was diverse as I studied in a Chinese school, an Islamic school, and eventually attended a boarding science school for high school! After completing my education, I worked as an urban designer for several years. Driven by my love for food and a desire to share the flavours of my Javanese heritage, I ventured into the culinary industry. Now, I am the proud owner and operator of a charcoal grilled Javanese restaurant - Arang! My life has been characterised by a diverse background, a passion for urban planning and design, and a successful transition into the culinary field.
