Charlotte Mei is never one to take herself too seriously! This ball of energy is a nutritionist, presenter and passionate about protecting the planet that we live in.
One of the things that she’s into is making sure people are equipped with the knowledge of maintaining good health through her recipes, dietary tips, and even super-informative videos.
How would you describe yourself and what do you do?
I wear two hats! One as a nutritionist, and the other as a presenter. Most of my work requires me to combine both roles, and my day to day includes running talks and workshops, as well as producing and hosting videos on the topic of food and nutrition.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
I drink water! Come to think of it, it’s actually the first and last thing I do every single day.
What are you most passionate about?
Food! And the wellbeing of people - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
What do you usually do to stimulate your creative juice?
Nothing! The beauty of doing nothing is that it allows us to take part in unconscious thought processes where we come up with new and creative ideas. I bet your best ideas come when you’re on the toilet or in the shower too. So put that phone down and do nothing when commuting or waiting in line for something!
What part of you that you are most proud of?
My ability to empathise with others.
What are you doing to keep yourself busy right now?
Planning the next season of my podcast on nutrition. It’s called In A Bite - go check it out! It’s available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and YouTube. What are some of the positive changes that you try to implement this year?
To read at least 8 pages daily, to sleep by midnight, and to be easier on myself by setting more manageable expectations and more positive self-talk.
Any exciting project that you are working on at the moment?
I’m working on launching some works in Malaysia!
Cooking tips & tricks that help you tremendously?
Use your freezer to store foods that you know you’re not going to finish before it goes bad. Bread, fruits, rice, santan, leftovers, you name it! Just no raw eggs please!
If you cook daily, mince a bunch of garlic in a jar, add some oil over it and store it in your fridge. It saves you so much time throughout the week! If you can’t finish it…yep, store it in the freezer!
I always keep a bag of frozen fruits and frozen vegetables in the freezer to use on days when I don’t have time to cook. This way I always have nutritious foods on hand that are quick and easy to prepare.
P.S. frozen fruits and vegetables are just as nutritious as their fresh counterparts!
If your life is a song, what would it be and why?
When I first started getting into running, this was the song I would play whenever I would start to feel tired. Because it’s such a long song, it would keep me going for at least a good 6 mins more!
