“Do what you feel is the best for you and what is comfortable for you.”
Meet the Sara behind "Sara". Read on to get to know Sara better and how she inspired one of our Eid Girl.

Hi. Can you share a little bit about yourself?
I’m Sara Athira. I’m currently doing content for Riuh - #riuhinthecity. It’s a creative platform for the community. One of my favourite hobbies is travelling. Obviously you can’t be travelling all the time so my alternative is exploring the city. For me it can be going for a walking tour in KL, doing the Hop On N Hop Off - I’ve gone 4 times already, or just basically discovering KL because I love my city.

Something that I hold on to, that was passed to me from my dad is whatever that you want to do, do your best and whatever that you want to be, be your best. It could be any type of career but if you want to do it, go all the way and make sure you be the best at it.

My favourite book is Eat, Pray, Love. One of the reasons is because of the content but it is also the first book that I finished reading from page one to the end. The first book that I was fully committed to. It was also a book where I read the book first and then watched the movie. Eat, Pray, Love has a different meaning to me, it is a book that I really love.

How would your best friend describe you in 3 words?
Fuhhhhh. That’s how she would describe me. Ummmm fun (hopefully), positive and also experimental in terms of like I’m quite adventurous so I’m up for anything.

Which lady/girl inspires you the most?
In terms of the kind of lady I aspire to be, for me personally I think it has to be my mom. I hope to be like my mom 10 years down the road. I hope to get all the criteria that my mom has. I’d be happy to get even 10% of everything that my mom is - her heart, her gestures, her selflessness and everything.

But in terms of career, I look up to Ellen. I love making people laugh and seeing how people gravitate towards her energy, I feel like that’s the best lah because to me laughter really is the best medicine.

What does it mean to be comfortable in your own skin?
For me personally just do what you feel is the best for you and what is comfortable for you. So that could apply from not following trends or if you’re into trends then that’s fine, but don’t feel the need to follow trends just because other people are doing it. Or even though people are not doing it but you feel like it’s something you want to do, then just go for it. For me, I don’t feel like you need to follow a tribe. You need to be very mindful of who you are and at the same time your presence when you’re around other people as well.

It’s not always about what other people can do for you, it’s also what you can do for other people. So once you have instilled that in your mind, I feel that you’ll be very content because you don’t feel like you’re expecting too much from other people. I believe that the purpose in life is not so much about what other people do and how they’ve impacted your life, it’s more about your impact in their lives and the people around you.

If you could share a message to all the everyday girls out there, what would it be?
Be happy! Even though sometimes it’s harder for certain people but always keep that in mind because for me being happy is a state of mind. There are a lot of obstacles and a lot of problems that not a lot of people know or can understand but always keep in mind that you can try to express yourself and you can make today a happy day. Then whatever that comes your way, you’ll be able to handle it well and you will make it work.

At the end of the day, you will feel okay. Because for me, being happy is the goal. Sometimes it’s not the easiest thing to do but that is always the end goal to always be happy and be kind. If you can achieve both then you can never go wrong. You can conquer the world!
