Meet Aishah Mokhtar the architectural designer with a green thumb

Meet Aishah Mokhtar the architectural designer with a green thumb

Aishah plays an important role as an educator, designer and architect in disseminating her knowledge towards the development of society and sustainable built environment around Kuala Lumpur. She believes that raising plants benefits us all, while juggling motherhood.

What are you doing to keep yourself busy right now?

I’m once obsessed with paint by numbers activity. It kept my mind at ease without the need to think much, as long as I followed the numbers given.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Drink water as I have heard that that is the best thing to keep your system awake. Then I’ll try to go for my morning run to get some good fresh air before starting the day.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about teaching, learning and creating. I am forever grateful that I found something that I love to do, as a lecturer and designer then have the opportunity to turn it into a career.

What part of you that you are most proud of?

That when I’m passionate about something, I will work towards it. There was one time I wanted to learn about entrepreneurship and running a small business, so I combined my passion in gardening and came out with a small brand called GreenLab where I sell home plants. It was a one woman show, from getting supplies at nursery, repotting, delivery, marketing and branding.

If your life is a song, what would it be and why?

Currently, I would say In My Mind by Lyn Lapid. I have learned to keep quiet in certain times but if only people know what is going on in one's mind.
